Six days a week of full-body strength and conditioning, with progressive load standing in for the gravity chamber. We ran the Dragon Ball training philosophy through a per-muscle recovery model: ten recovery flags, and every one of them is the point.
Goku’s training resume is a physics violation with a smile: chasing Bubbles the monkey across King Kai’s little planet at 10× gravity, then dialing the gravity chamber to 100× on the way to Namek and doing push-ups anyway. And when the training finally breaks him, Saiyan biology cashes in a zenkai boost: come back from the edge of death measurably stronger. It is a recovery superpower dressed up as a work ethic.
Strip the fiction and a real idea is left standing: train the whole body, train it often, and when it adapts, do not add minutes, add gravity. That is a load progression, and humans can run one. Six days a week of it is where human and Saiyan part ways, and the numbers below show exactly where the seam splits.

The reality check
The audit above throws ten recovery flags at this week, and nine of them land on the big 72-hour muscles. That is not sloppy programming; it is the honest cost of six training days. Training like a Saiyan assumes Saiyan recovery, and the zenkai boost is not on the menu.
The legs never get a full window. Quads take the most weekly volume on the chart, about 19 weighted sets, spread across four days: squats on day 1, conditioning 24 hours later, sled and swings on day 4, front squats 24 hours after that. Three quad flags, plus two each for the hamstrings and glutes caught between deadlift day and the swing-and-sled day. A 72-hour muscle asked to perform on 24 to 48 hours is training through fatigue, all week, by design.
The back is pulled every other day. Pull-ups, rows and chin-ups land on days 1, 3 and 5, so the lats and upper back get 48-hour gaps against a 72-hour window, twice. The one triceps flag is the same story in miniature: pressing on day 1, push-ups on day 3, 48 hours against a 54-hour window.
What survives the audit matters too. Delts, biceps, abs, calves and forearms all clear their windows; the flags are concentrated exactly where six days cannot fit three or four leg sessions, not sprayed randomly. And high-frequency full-body training is a real method with a real track record: it works when most sets stay well shy of failure, so each session is a stimulus, not a crater. Run this week at grinding intensity and the first things to fail are knees, elbows and sleep, roughly in that order. How to run it
Progress like a gravity chamber. The multiplier is load, nothing else. When every prescribed set of a strength lift is completed, add 2.5 kg to the bar the next time it appears; that is your 10× becoming 20×. Reps never rise. Keep every strength set 2 to 3 reps shy of failure, and use the one-rep-max calculator to sanity-check that working weights sit near 70 to 80 percent. Conditioning days are deliberately conversational: the burpees, rope and high knees should feel like a 6 or 7 out of 10, because they land on legs that squatted yesterday.
Leave the chamber every fourth week. Week 4 is a deload: same movements, half the sets, same load. Six training days with ten standing recovery flags is only sustainable as a rhythm of three hard weeks and one easy one, plus guarding the single rest day like it is plot armor. Sleep is the whole margin here; eight hours is part of the program, not a suggestion.
Who should not run this: beginners, who will grow faster on three full-body days with real rest between them; anyone with cranky knees or elbows, because squatting or pressing in some form four days a week finds weak joints fast; and anyone whose life caps sleep below seven hours. If the volume feels heroic but the recovery is not there, that is not Saiyan spirit, it is next month’s tendinitis.
Is the Goku workout from Dragon Ball actually possible?+
The canon version, no: 100 times gravity would kill a human before the first push-up. The honest translation is what this page audits: full-body training six days a week where progressive load stands in for the gravity multiplier. That part is real, and it is genuinely advanced.
Does training the whole body six days a week work?+
It can, and squat-every-day and other high-frequency programs prove it, but only when most sets stay well short of failure. Our analysis shows ten recovery-window violations in this week, mostly on the quads, glutes, hamstrings and back, so intensity management is not optional. Grind daily and you accumulate fatigue faster than you adapt.
How heavy should the weights be in the Goku workout?+
Start strength lifts around 70 to 80 percent of your one-rep max, finishing every set 2 to 3 reps shy of failure. Add 2.5 kg whenever you complete all prescribed sets; that steady load creep is the gravity multiplier. If a weight forces grinding reps this week, it is next month's weight, not this one's.
How many rest days does the Goku workout have?+
One per week, plus a deload every fourth week with half the sets. That is the minimum that keeps six training days from compounding into overuse injury, and it only works if conditioning days stay genuinely easy. Skip the deload and the program's ten recovery flags stop being theoretical.
Is the Goku workout good for beginners?+
No. Beginners adapt faster on three full-body days with 48 to 72 hours between them, because recovery is where the growth happens. This program spends its recovery budget on frequency, which only pays off once you have the technique and joint tolerance of a couple of years under the bar.
