Run clubs in Miami
25.76° N · 80.19° W2 m5 clubs listed
Miami runs at night. The city has essentially no elevation, a summer where dawn sits at 26°C with tropical humidity, and a nightlife culture that the run clubs slotted into rather than competed with. The result is one of the most social running scenes in the country: the Brickell Run Club regularly draws hundreds of people on a Tuesday evening, and the run is three and a half miles followed by somewhere with a bar. Nobody here is pretending this is primarily about fitness, which is oddly refreshing.
The clubs
Listed alphabetically by nothing in particular, because the right club is the one you can reach. Every link below was opened and confirmed working on 2 August 2026. We do not list meeting times, since those change and stale times are worse than none: check the club’s own page before you turn up.

How running works in Miami
The scale of the free weekly runs is the thing that distinguishes Miami. The Baptist Health Brickell Run Club has grown into one of the largest free weekly run clubs in the southeastern United States, with a few hundred runners meeting on Brickell Avenue and a route that changes week to week. That is a different order of magnitude from a neighbourhood crew, and it functions more like a recurring event than a club.
Neighbourhood identity still matters underneath. Wynwood, Coconut Grove, South Beach and Brickell each have their own crews with their own character, and Run Club Network ties several of them together as a South Florida umbrella. Coconut Grove's runs go through tree-lined streets, South Beach's go past Ocean Drive with a DJ. They are not interchangeable.
Almost everything is free, almost everything is evening, and almost everything ends somewhere social. The Miami Marathon in late January anchors a race calendar that, like Austin's, runs hard from November to March and then largely stops.
When to run in Miami
Miami has the warmest and most humid climate of any American city here, and the least variation. Dawn ranges from 17°C in January to 26°C in August, and the afternoon high barely moves across the year, from 24°C to 31°C. There is no cold season at all and no month where humidity is not a factor.
The summer is genuinely hard, and it is the humidity rather than the temperature doing it. June through September dawn between 25°C and 26°C with humidity that pushes the heat index well above the air temperature, and August averages nearly 25 rain days. Afternoon thunderstorms are near-daily in that period. Running in a Miami August is a slow, wet, sweaty business and everybody accepts it.
Hurricane season runs from June to November and is a real factor in the training calendar, occasionally in the form of a cancelled race and more often as a week of unrunnable weather.
December through March is the season, and it is the reason people winter here: dawn between 17°C and 20°C, lower humidity, and afternoons in the mid-twenties. The Miami Marathon runs in late January right in the middle of it.

Where to run in Miami
The Rickenbacker Causeway
Road
The closest thing Miami has to a hill: the bridge out towards Key Biscayne, with a wide shoulder, open water on both sides and about the only sustained gradient in the county. The standard hard session for anyone training seriously here.
The South Beach Boardwalk and Lummus Park
Mixed
Flat paved and boardwalk path running the length of Miami Beach beside the sand, with the Atlantic on one side and Ocean Drive on the other. Busy, exposed and the definitive Miami run.
Brickell and the Underline
Road
The linear park being built beneath the Metrorail, running south from Brickell with a dedicated paved path. Flat, increasingly shaded and the spine of running in the financial district.
Key Biscayne and Crandon Park
Mixed
Across the causeway, with beach paths, a park loop and considerably less traffic than the mainland. Worth the crossing for a longer run in something approaching quiet.
Coconut Grove
Road
Tree-lined residential streets, genuine shade and rolling terrain by Miami standards, which is to say almost none. The most pleasant place in the city to run in August, purely because of the canopy.
Frequently asked questions
Are run clubs in Miami free?
Essentially all of them. Brickell Run Club, Wynwood, Coconut Grove, Miami Run Club and the groups under Run Club Network are free with no membership. Miami's scene is built around large free weekly events sponsored by brands and health systems rather than around paid membership clubs.
What time do run clubs in Miami meet?
Evening, almost universally, with 7pm being the standard. This is a heat and humidity decision and a cultural one: the run is the start of the night rather than the start of the day. Weekend long runs move to early morning, particularly in summer.
How do you train through a Miami summer?
Slowly, and with a lot of water. June through September dawn sits between 25°C and 26°C with humidity that pushes the heat index well past the air temperature, and August averages nearly 25 rain days. Expect to lose well over a minute per mile, use the shaded streets of Coconut Grove rather than the exposed beach path, and treat summer as a maintenance block rather than a build.
Where are the best places to run in Miami?
The Rickenbacker Causeway is the one place with a sustained gradient and the standard hard session. The South Beach boardwalk gives you flat continuous distance beside the ocean. Coconut Grove's tree-lined streets are the coolest option in summer, and Key Biscayne is worth the causeway crossing for something quieter.
When is the best time of year to run in Miami?
December through March, with dawn between 17°C and 20°C and noticeably lower humidity. The Miami Marathon runs in late January in the middle of that window. Hurricane season from June to November is worth keeping in mind, both for races and for the occasional unrunnable week.
