How to export your Oura Ring data

The export lives in the Membership Hub on the web rather than in the app, and it keeps working without an active membership. What is in the file, and what to do with it once you have it.

Oura handles this better than most of the category, and the one thing worth knowing is that the export is on the web rather than in the app. Almost everyone who concludes it cannot be done has been looking in the app.

  1. 1

Go to membership.ouraring.com and sign in

Use the account that owns the ring. This is the Membership Hub, which is also where regional pricing, invoices and membership controls live.

  2. 2

    Find the data export section

It sits alongside your account and membership settings rather than under anything labelled privacy. If you have just cancelled, it is still there.

  3. 3

Request the export and wait for the file

You will be given a CSV. Depending on how long you have had the ring, this can take a little while to assemble.

  4. 4

Open it before you do anything else

A download you have not opened is not a backup. Check the file has the date range you expect before you cancel or delete anything.

What you get

A per-day table rather than raw sensor traces. Daily Sleep, Readiness and Activity scores, the sleep detail behind them, and heart rate figures the app recorded. Enough to chart your own trends, correlate against anything else you track, and keep a record independent of the company.

What it is not: second-by-second data. If you want that granularity, the API is the route, and it requires an active membership.

Export versus the Apple Health sync

Two different mechanisms that get confused.

The export is a file for you. Archive it, analyse it, keep it after you leave.

The Apple Health sync is live, ongoing, and only writes a subset of metrics. It is what lets other apps read your Oura sleep, and it stops when the ring stops. Which metrics actually cross over is covered in does the Oura Ring work with Apple Health.

Frequently asked questions

How do I export my Oura data?

Sign in to the Membership Hub at membership.ouraring.com on the web and use the data export there. It produces CSV. The export is not in the phone app, which is why most people cannot find it.

Can I export Oura data without a membership?

Yes. As long as you have not deleted the account, your data stays saved and stays exportable as CSV from the Membership Hub, membership or not. This is a meaningful difference from WHOOP, where the export lives behind an active membership.

What is included in an Oura data export?

Your daily scores and the underlying daily metrics: sleep, readiness and activity, with the sleep detail and heart rate figures the app has recorded. It is a per-day tabular export rather than raw sensor data.

Can I get my Oura data into Apple Health?

Oura writes a subset of its metrics into Apple Health directly if you grant permission in the app, which is a live sync rather than an export. The CSV export is a separate thing, meant for your own archive and analysis rather than for feeding another app.

Does Oura have an API?

Yes, and API access is one of the things gated behind an active membership. If you want programmatic access rather than a periodic CSV, that is the route, and it stops working when the membership does.
